Real life scares me
Today I've been mainly thinking about real life, specifically tax and accommodation costs, this site's calculations fill me with pain!.
I've come to realise just how little my current accommodation costs per annum, the cost of renting in London is insane in lots of places! Still got to find a job first, then we'll see what I have to play around with...

Google loves Apple too
GoogleX is cute, not sure if it's that useful though, and unless it was on all pages then it's not really going to be adopted, like the auto-complete Google I posted about before.
Four more weeks of lectures (after the Easter vacation) ever, exams and project are really looming now. Eek.

Professor Wheeler
I've just heard that the lab has lost one of its pioneering members, Prof. David Wheeler. It's surely a great loss of a very friendly and talented academic. He was responsible for the Burrows-Wheeler compression algorithm and the Tiny Encryption Algorithm amongst many other things. I've only talked to him once, to explain my second year group project to him and try to describe it because of his ailing eyesight. I remember him being very fast to understand the entire project and spotted the glaring hole in the brief we'd fufilled straight away, equally in security group seminars I saw him demonstrate the talent of getting straight to the source of the problem and seeing problems from a different perspective. His Obituary.
My part 2 project is progressing, currently 2378 lines. Still got a huge hunk of boring code to do in the message classes. That should bump the total up a long way, hopefully if I get a good days work in tomorrow I'll be starting on them by the evening.

Alaric can cook...
...but more importantly at this time of year I can also bake:

My part II project, now tentatively codenamed `Mercury', is progressing slowly: 1467 lines now.
