Web Design
I've been doing webdesign semi-recreationally for 5 years now, a fair number of my previous sites I now regard as not acceptable examples of my work and some are no longer available. Here I provide a screenshot incase they change or because they no longer exist.I've always coded by hand, and not used WYSIWYG editors, and my pages are currently written in standards compliant XHTML and CSS. Although I was a fan of graphical layouts, I much prefer minimalist designs at the moment. That may change again if SVG is widely accepted and built into browsers, because after using it for a recent coding project I've realised it's really cool.
Recent
The current ajrn.co.uk/informationstorm.co.uk site, a background image created in a 3D program and Adobe Photoshop under a CSS positioned layout. Some basic dynamic html used to highlight menu items on putting the mouse cursor over the item.

The Union of Clare Students site, which also runs the xix content management system and was originally based on this current site. The layout is indeed, very very similar.

Older
This was the Netscape Navigator 4.x compatible theme for the last incarnation of my site, it's tables based with minimal use of CSS (v1). Despite not using the cutting-edge technologies of the dark theme, I still ended up using it the most as it was just clean and simple.

This was intended as the flagship theme for the last incarnation of this website, it was never quite completed as originally intended. This is mainly because I left the phase of liking dark layouts, and because it was far too messy to do cross-browser compatible dynamic html. Indeed that layout was only intended for use with Internet Explorer, and as such deserved to die regardless. It had purple highlighted image roll-overs and tool tips on the menus and it made extensive use of CSS for the time.

Just an experiment on doing a fixed size layout, never actually used for a site, used tables if I recall correctly. Pretty simple.

A website using an aluminium effect layout that I designed for a gaming clan site when I used to play the online strategy game Planetarion many years ago. Pretty simple layout, orange menu highlights.

The second iteration of my site, was radically simpler than the complicated brushed metal effect one it replaced. It also introduced a branding scheme that was continued into the third incarnation. The website was technically very simple using table layouts with highly basic css. Here it's displaying a page of some graphics I did for the previously mentioned online strategy game.
